The Salon du Chocolat will take place again this year in Belgium, in Brussels in the beginning of February in 2015. This will be the second year Brussels gives home to this special event again.

The Salon du Chocolat is the largest and most known event dedicated to chocolate in the whole world. The Salon du Chocolat takes place every year in several cities such as Paris, Tokyo, Moscow, New York, London, Zürich, Beijing, Shanghai and so on. At the 3 days long festival visitors will have the chance to discover and taste a wide range of various chocolate. The Salon du Chocolat is one of the most visited events in the life of the city which attracted last year over 30.000 people from all over the country. It is a perfect program for everyone from big families through small families to friends.

During the 3 day long event visitors can explore the different tastes and forms of chocolate along side with countless programs and activities such as conferences, workshops, children’s, festive and educational activities as well. One of the highlights of the Salon du Chocolat will be the famous Chocolate Fashion Show with various outfits made out of chocolate. This year the second Salon du Chocolat will be held from 6th February 2015 to 8th February 2015 in the heart of Brussels at Brussels Expo.

Ticket for adults, students and seniors is € 8.50, ticket for children from 3 to 12 years is € 5 and it is free for under 3 years olds.

What are the best events in Brussels in 2015? In this short article we will introduce you to the best programs in Brussels.

Brussels is the capital city of Belgium and it is among the most exciting and colourful cities in Europe. Through the whole year multiple programs and activities are waiting for the visitors from the various concerts, festivals to the most interesting exhibitions. So in this article we will list some of the highlights of the city in 2015.

One of the most awaited festivals in Brussels is the ‘Brussels Film Festival’ which will take place some time in April 2015, the dates of the festival are not confirmed yet. At the festival you can check the best movies and there will be countless programs related to film and movie making as well.

Another popular festival in the city is the ‘Art Brussels’ where you can check the most beautiful contemporary art. The ‘Art Brussels’ presents the most talented European artists to the visitors and shows over 125 galleries from over 20 countries. The festival will be held from 25th April to 27th May in 2015.

If you like jazz music then the ‘Brussels Jazz Marathon’ is the perfect program choice for you. The ‘Brussels Jazz Marathon’ takes place at various venues in the city from cafe houses through clubs to hotels and at the marathon over 4000 musicians will perform. The ‘Brussels Jazz Marathon’ will be held some time in May 2015.

Probably the most awaited event in the city is the ‘Belgian Beer Weekend’ where over 50 breweries from all over the world will be presented. This is the biggest beer event in Brussels and at the festival you can also try the best Belgian beers. The ‘Belgian Beer Weekend’ will take place some time in September this year there are no exact dates announced yet.

Each year some time in the end of November the Christmas markets appear in the city. The Christmas markets are the perfect place to do some pre-Christmas shopping, try the best mulled wines and dishes and to get into the holiday spirit as well. The Christmas markets usually open from the end of November until the end of December.

Apart from the markets and the various festivals in the city Brussels hosts some of the best concerts in 2015. In this year visitor can enjoy the performances of the most famous artists of the world such as Hozier, Interpol, Nicki Minaj, One Direction and so on.

Exhibition on the giant animals on earth

This exhibition Giants of the Earth can be seen from November 2014 until the beginning of next year 2015 and the exhibition Giants of the Earth takes place in Belgium in Brussels.

At the exhibition visitors can discover more on the giant animals that used to rule and live on the Earth and you also have the chance to discover more on that period of time on our planet. At the exhibition visitors can listen to the different animal noises and the sound of their movements as well. The exhibition shows over 30 giant animals from the different dinosaurs through the animals lived in the Ice Age to the present day’s most amusing animals as well. It is absolutely a great program for everyone from adults to children as at the exhibition provides an interactive area where visitors are able to take pictures with the different animals, check out pictures, drawings and so much more. The exhibition Giants of the Earth takes place by the Brussels Stock Exchange and the exhibition is shown from 20th November 2014 until 4th January 2015, as a part of the Winter Wonderland, the annual Christmas market in Brussels.

Strike stops air-traffic in Belgium

According to the website of Brussels Airport a national strike will start at 10.00 Sunday on December 14th and it will for sure last until 10.00 on December 15th, Monday. This is part of a strike amongst the Belgocontrol, Belgian Air Traffic Control, which will cause all air traffic in Belgium to stop, meaning that no flights will land in any of the airports in Belgium and no flights will depart.

You are therefore kindly asked to contact your airline if you are supposed to depart from Brussels or any other airport in Belgium in this period to find out what to do, and most airports kindly ask you not to travel to the airport, because they will not be able to help you any further there.

Be aware of the fact that there are not always the same messages written about the strike online, because on the website of Brussels Airport they claim that the strike starts at 10.00 on December 14th and will last until 10.00 on December 15th, while Charleroi Airport claims that the strike will only cause problems on December 15th.

Make sure to contact your airline in case you are affected!

December 14th, 14:45 update

Based on timetables on the Internet sites of both Brussels Airport and Charleroi it seems as if all flights departing and arriving before midnight on December 14th will operate as normal, but all flight traffic on December 15th will be cancelled. In other words, the flights on December 14th will go as normal, and not as written by Brussels Airport earlier that all flights from 10.00 on December 14th will be cancelled, but only flights arriving or departing on December 15th will be cancelled!

Which is the best beer in Belgium?

In this article you can read about the best beers you can try during a holiday in Belgium. Belgium is famous for the various beers you can find there.

The strongest Belgian beer is the Bush Beer. The Bush Beer has a lovely golden brown colour and an earthy aroma. It is more like a barely wine and the alcohol strength of the original one is around 12%, quite similar to the strongest beer produced in Prague in the Czech Republic.

The other popular beer in Belgium is Chimay which is produced in the southern part of the country by Trappist monks. Chimay is considered as one of the best beers of the world. The alcohol content of the beer is between 6.5% (Blond) and 8.5% (Bruin).

The third beer of the our list is the Leffe. Leffe is another popular Belgian beer which comes in two varieties. Leffe Blond is a light beer and it has a slight orangey flavour and the other type of Leffe is the Leffe Brune which is a dark beer and has an aromatic taste. The Leffe Blond has 6.6% alcohol content and the Brune has 6.5%. Apart from these beers there are plenty other beers to try in Belgium which are as good as the three from our list.
