Constantin Meunier exhibition

There is a major exhibition about Constantin Meunier in Brussels at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium. Constantin Meunier was a Belgian painter and sculptor who was born in 1831 and he died in 1905.

He is one of the most outstanding artists of Belgium and his work had a great influence on the art of the following generations. Constantin Meunier was one of the first artists who presented the social reality in Europe in the 19th century. He started his career as a sculptor and only between 1857 and 1884 he started painting. Meunier showed great interests for workers and he often presented them on his paintings. He was mostly interested in the miners in the Borinage region, women workers, steel workers and dock workers around Antwerp. The exhibition shows a wide range of different paintings from Meunier and let the visitors have a closer look on the pictures and the life of the painter. Through the pictures visitors have the chance to explore more on the life back his time and to see the social problems at the time in Belgium.

100 years in the Balkans: Exhibition

Comic BalkansThis exhibition takes place at the Comic Strip Center which is a museum dedicated to all kind of comic strip art and comics from all around Europe. The Comic Strip Center is located in the heart of Brussels in Belgium.

The 100 years in the Balkans exhibition will show the visitors of the creation of all the former countries that were part of Yugoslavia. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to discover more from the former countries of Yugoslavia. The exhibition 100 years in the Balkans has a wide selection of art works from that period of time and it will be the first time to show them to the public. At the exhibition the visitors will have the chance to have a closer look on the 19th and 20th centuries and it will reveal the hidden secrets and unknown facts. The 100 years of Balkans exhibition will focus on bringing the comic strip art closer to the people and show art and the countries in a new perspective. The 100 years in the Balkans exhibition will take place at the Comic Strip Center in Brussels. The exhibition will be held from 3rd July in 2014 to 16th November 2014. Albert and Elisabeth exhibition

This exhibition is about the Royal couple. King Albert and Elisabeth were a large fan of films. King Albert was fascinated by films and film making and he and Elisabeth were the perfect subject for a film maker. During his reign they started to appear on films and they happily got in contact with the people.

The main goal of the exhibition is to bring closer the visitors to King Albert and Elisabeth and give the chance to see them from a new perspective. King Albert and Elisabeth shown interest in a wide range of important and serious issues around the world such as the First World War, sciences and cultural heritage and environment. At the exhibition you can check the remaining personal objects which are belonged to the heritage and a wide selection of films as well. Most of the films were never shown before. The Albert & Elisabeth. Filming the Royal Couple exhibition will take place in BELvue museum in the capital of Belgium, Brussels. The exhibition will be held from Monday, 15th September 2014 until Sunday, 30th November 2014. The entrance is free in the museum.

Kokoschka & Gauguin unravelled, See the invisible – Brussels exhibition

KokoschkaThe exhibition of Kokoschka and Gauguin unravelled will take place in Brussels at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium.

The exhibition will show two major paintings of Kokoschka and Gauguin. It presents the Portrait of Suzanne Bambridge by Gauguin and the Trance Player by Kokoschka. Paul Gauguin was a French Post-Impressionist. His art work was not appreciated until he died but his paintings and art work truly inspired the French avant-grade and well known painters such as Pablo Picasso and Henri Mattise. He was one of the most important figures of the Symbolist movement. Oskar Kokoschka was an Austrian painter and poet. He is best known for his intense expressionistic landscapes and portraits.

At the exhibition the two paintings are in the focus and with the new technology visitors will have the chance to have an inside look of the paintings and discover the pictures hidden secrets. The multispectral image analysis makes it possible for the visitors to explore the secrets the paintings may have and to learn more about the painters and their art works. The canvas characterization and crack detection will be monitored under close scrutiny. At the exhibition demo films, photographs and interactive films will explain the how this new technique, the multispectral image analysis works through the two paintings. The exhibition will take place at the Royal Museums of Fine Arts of Belgium from 22nd July 2014 until 25th January 2015.

Brussels in German Exhibition

Brussels in GermanThe exhibition will take place in the capital of Belgium in the heart of Brussels. The exhibition will focus on the World War I. in Belgium and it will show the life of the Belgians during the war and the German occupation. The World War I. begun in 1914 and it lasted until 1918.

The war was centred in Europe and more than 9 million combatants and over 7 million civilians died during the war. It was one of the deadliest conflict in the history of Europe. It is the 100th anniversary of the World War I. and in this occasion the museum will display the life in Brussels during the German the occupation. At the exhibition visitors will have the chance to see the World War I. through the eyes of the Belgian citizens and to have an inside look in the everyday life. The exhibition will compare the life of the inhabitants in Brussels with the life in other German cities. Several unusual and unique objects will be shown at the exhibition such as postcards, caricatures, photos by the artist of Brussels from that period of time. The exhibits show the struggle of the citizens in the everyday life.

The exhibition will take place in Brussels at the Museum of the City of Brussels from 21st August 2014 until 3rd May 2015. The entrance fee for the exhibition is 4 euros for adults, 3 euros for seniors, students and groups, 2 euros for children and schools and it is free under 18 years old at the weekend.
